Community in Him

December 2016 – A Safe Harbor is Jesus

John 16:32-33 | The Bottom of a Bottle

When you get down, let God’s

grace get you up.” He is the

ultimate comforter and He is the

shelter in the storm and He

eventually one day bring to you a

community that will build you up.

He has overcome the world.

This is what we have to

understand, He was able to

go through worse than what

we go through and He was

better for it. So, even though

we may feel alone we will

find rest in Him. And He

WILL send us those who are

meant to stay in our

community, so long as we

remain faithful.

There has been times in my life where I would turn left and I would turn right and nobody was there. Not a single soul. I would pray to God and ask Him to send me people in my life that would be there for me so that I could finally experience friendship. I wanted to experience being wanted because I felt unimportant to just about everyone in my life.I felt abandoned, left alone. I looked for others who loved Jesus. But even though I felt lonely, I wasn't alone.Sometimes we need to be left alone in places to learn what we are capable of, but we have a true hope in a savior that is present through it all. Just like is written in 4:35-41 When Jesus is with His disciples on the boat and a storm comes.

"On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.” And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. And other boats were with him. And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?” And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”

This story has a lot of importance for us today. It is incredible to see the peace that Jesus had in this situation and the complete turmoil that the disciples were in. Jesus was at peace and not worried about the storm around them. There was no reason for the disciples to be afraid. The wind and the waves that surrounded the disciples were huge and scared all on board except Jesus. We know that Jesus knew what was going on from the beginning because he was disappointed at the disciples for their lack of faith. They did not trust in Jesus and all he could and would do. At that moment, the disciples had more fear of the storm than trust in God.

This story highlights some very important things in our walk with Christ. There are trials that we come against, but we must trust in God and His sovereignty over the situation. Both the disciples and we who read this story today can learn from this story the significance of our faith in Jesus in times of trial and can grow in our confidence in the fact that God is in control, and we can trust in him

Deuteronomy 31:8 - Bible Verse for Stress - Bible Verse Images

It is during your hardest times that you learn who loves you the most. Do not fall into a pit of pity. Rise above self-pity with your focus on your heavenly Father. When you get down, let God’s grace get you up. You are not alone when the Lord is with you! It’s in our loneliness that the Lord can become the most real. As long as we are sucked in by stuff’s distractions and the world’s noise, we become deaf to the deeper things of God. Our spiritual ears eventually close when waxed by constant stimulation. During painful periods it is the most important to lean on God. Trust learned at this level of desperation is not soon forgotten. We may be lonely, but we are not alone!
