Relationship with Christ Brings Security.
Last post we talked about relationship vs religion. So, I thought I would talk a bit more on how to build that relationship and how a true relationship helps grow on your IDENTITY and SECURITY. Because when life comes to an end the real thing that will be the focus is do we have a personal relationship with the One who created us. It isn't about if we go to church or if we grew up in a Christian home. It's about our time alone with God. Knowing God on a friend level, based on the grace that He has offered each and every single one of us. It is about being made new based on what Jesus has done for us, sacrificing His life on the cross for us. The ultimate sacrifice. the Bible tells us that we have salvation by grace through faith, which is a gift given to everyone, no matter if they are "good" or "bad". Since Jesus lived a perfect life, His sacrifice is more than enough to pay for our inequities. As it is written in Romans 3:25.
So, the way for us to have a relationship with Jesus is nicely summed up here.
1. Understand that God loves you and offers a wonderful plan for your life as stated in John 3:16 and John 10:10. Every single thing that happens in your life, God has a plan for it. Relying on Him is where the relationship begins.
2. Remember every single person sins and sin has separated us from God. We were created to have fellowship with God, but we chose to go our own way, thinking of ourselves before God, this broke our fellowship with God.
3. Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice. Jesus is the way to grow with Christ and becomes a good and faithful servant. He is the way to God.
4. We have to receive Jesus as our own personal savior. Not your moms, not your dads, not your pastors, but yours.
When our relationship with Christ grows, our security is found in Him. We can rest in His arms. Our life in secure in the arms of our savior. And it's even more perfect to remember that this life on earth is only temporary. The real life that matters is the life after this one. So we should spend this time on earth living for Him, identifying in Him, and getting to know Him because He is who we are going to spend eternity with. We inherit our portion of the Lord’s gifts for current needs. All that is required for our work, family and ministry are given to us by God’s grace. A secure life drinks often from Christ’s cup of comfort, a drink from the cup of our Father’s love secures our soul in Him.
Whenever struggling with fear and anxiety make sure to know that the Lord provides peace in the storm. He is that peace, He was even able to sleep through the storm when on His a ship with the disciples. But the fact that Jesus was sleeping is actually reassuring because He was able to sleep through the storm, confident that everything will be okay. He was always present, even when He was asleep. That is what we have to focus on. We are secure in Him because He is always and will always be there. Fear is a liar and this is what satan wants you to believe. If we cast those fears away and renew who we are every day we will be victorious.
Get off the self-reliant treadmill of distrust and walk on the self-denial road of trust with Jesus. Repetitive thoughts of worry tend to isolate us from intimacy. But, as we take captive every thought to Christ we submit to security. We avoid becoming an insecure slave to fear. Security in the Lord has nothing to prove only peace, no striving. Your lot in life is secured by God. Rest in His intimate presence of love and acceptance.
